How RLFX Sports Massage Began

It all started with an idea

The ethos behind what I wanted to create at RFLX Sports Massage was pretty simple - I wanted to provide a thoughtfully designed space that was accessible to those who perhaps don’t feel as ‘at home’ in a gym environment. After all - I am one of those people myself. And surely, the best place to start with creating a new business, is to find the niche that you’d like to have access to, yourself?

Healing Hands

Let’s go back to the beginning. One thing you’ll get to know about me is whilst I have a real grounding in anatomical and psychological knowledge, I am also a bit of a sucker for the more holistic, non-traditional side of life. Whilst on a day trip with my partner in Gloucestershire, I by chance got a tarot reading done. Amongst many other spiritual deductions and mystic prophecies, this reader told me that I had healing hands. And whilst I always take everything that I’m told with a pinch of salt (tarot reader or no), I felt a deep connection with this sentiment. I have always felt drawn to massage and wellness, and even in my work as a pole and aerial fitness and dance instructor, my coaching skills have always been geared towards promoting a full body, holistic approach to what can be quite a demanding art form.

After not much deliberation, I took the leap to start my journey at the exceptional Cotswold Academy. Based in Cirencester, under the tuition of their wonderful teacher Tamara (or ‘T’), I completed my certification to provide sports massage.

Finding My Space

When I started this business, I knew that I didn’t want to be somewhere that felt temporary. After all, I wanted my space to be a place of healing and comfort, and I wanted to pass that feeling onto my clients. That’s where The Health Hub comes in.

When I first went to visit The Health Hub in Bishops Cleeve, I knew this was where RFLX Sports Massage would find it’s home. I could just feel it. All of my boxes were ticked - we have plenty of free parking, a central location accessible from both Tewkesbury and Cheltenham, step-free access and a lift within the building, a relaxed waiting room with free WiFi, and the treatment room itself. My treatment room is sound-insulated for your comfort and confidentiality, fully air-conditioned, with dimmer lights and just the right amount of space for client consultation and treatment.

The Ethos

As someone who hasn’t always been athletic, I know how it can feel to not feel at home within a space. Even with the fitness background I’ve since cultivated in my 20s, I still tend to find my tribe within the unconventional. There is no prerequisite of physical activity that you must be at before you come and be treated at RFLX. Whether you’re a runner, a gymnast, or someone who finds time for one yoga class a week, or someone who has found fitness inaccessible for the past few months, I believe everyone has the right to feel comfortable in their body. Within my work as a pole and aerial fitness and dance instructor, I regularly work with clients from all different walks of life, often those who haven’t exercised for quite some time due to a variety of barriers. This carries over to my work as a sports massage therapist. I won’t bombard you with a bunch of exercises that you ‘should’ be doing, and any work we discuss to do outside of the clinic will be catered to work within your lifestyle. I believe that the more realistic we can be together, as a team, the better the outcome for you and your goals.

The Final Thought

What I love so much about what I’ve built with RFLX Sports Massage is that I have created a space that I would want to spend time in as a client. It doesn’t matter if you’re a regular gym-goer, or someone who simply wants to spend a little time on relaxation and rehabilitation. Come to my clinic, and let’s get you moving more freely and easily again.
